THE END - and just like that, I’ve finished my second novel, The Last of the Blooms. 77,056 words of 5.00am writing sessions and countless cue cards and planning - I couldn’t be more proud of myself. My first novel took two years, my second 10 months.
What a night. Good tunes, great food, good wine, great venue, working with great musicians and an epic hospo crew all with an adorable loved up young couple.
When your 14yo daughter takes your photo, you don’t dare not post it.

This is my favourite photo of my Mum. Years before she was sick, and when the kids were still little, we spent an afternoon at Glenelg. The kids went off to play on one of those bunji trampoline things, and I was holding Preston’s hat and put it on Mum’s head and without skipping a beat, she struck this pose and I snapped this photo. That’s just the kind of woman she was; one in a million.
